Past Events 2019

November 13th.

A team of three members displayed their material to the Aylesbury Society. Paul showed his Falkland Islands, John Hossack, Ship transport of Sierra Leone, and John Spencer, Cruising the Bristol Channel by paddle steamer.







July 17th

The last meeting of the season saw three members presented with trophies as winners of competitions by our competition secretary Paul Peacock.


1 Bruce Brennon was awarded winner of the Alan Crozier trophy for his entry of Athletics.


2 Tony Johnson was awarded winner of the Margaret Harris Trophy for his entry of New Zealand Booklet panes.


3 John Spencer won the Palmer trophy for his entry into the East Anglian and East Midland regional competition which scored the highest points of all the entries in the Leighton Buzzard society.


June 19th. A visit by Cambridge P.S

Four members came to visit and gave four wonderfully varied displays for us including. Tony Crowther. History of Edinburgh post Simon Kelly who showed The Cambridge Postal Strike of the 70s and finished the second half with Ethiopia. Rufus Barnes entertained with a trip to Easter Island and its history through its post.


May 15th. A visit from Pinner.

Loraine McGuire and Richard Akers cam to show us some of their collecting interests.



Loraine brought some items from her collection of New Zealand Cinderella material, from local post to advertising labels.




After the break Richard treated us to his competition entries and more of Kingfishers and Penguins.


March 20th 2019

David Belton gave a display entitled, trains, Ships and planes starting in 1768, highlighting the various means of transport used for carrying mail and the disasters and situations that occur on a daily basis after the mail leaves our care and is put into the trust of carriers not only in our country but all over the world.
